Prof. Dr. Onur EGEMEN
He was born in 1975. After completing his education in Trabzon Anatolian High School in 1993, he began to study in Istanbul University Medical Faculty. He was interested in surgical branches all along the study. He even went abroad for about two months as a general surgery intern in 4th grade of the faculty. However, the milestone was his acquaintance with Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
The broad working area, the uniqueness of operations, the opportunity of personal creativity and improvisation, the visibility of consequences just after treatment attracted him about Plastic,Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
After graduation from Istanbul University Medical Faculty and Medical Specialty Exam in the same year, he began the residency training at Sisli Etfal Research Hospital Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic. In the meantime, he accomplished the Microsurgery training and performed plenties of Microsurgery operations.
Having completed compulsory medical and military service, he began working atBagcilar Research Hospital in 2008.
Two years later, he was assigned to the chief assistance of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Department in Okmeydani Research Hospital. He had the opportunity to accelerate researches and scientific studies with this position.
In 2011, he succeeded in all exams of European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS) alongside the membership of Turkish Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Association.
The following year, UZ Brussels Hospital Breast Surgery Department was his destination, where he found the opportunity to work with Dr. Moustapha Hamdi who is one of the most operative breast surgeons nowadays, in order to expertize especially on microsurgical post oncologic breast reconstruction and aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery subjects.
In 2013, he passed the qualification exams and certified as Assocciate Professor of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.
Between 2014-2016, he was a member staff in İstanbul Liv Hospital and a lecturer in İstinye University Medical Faculty.
He has been persisting in study and scientific publication unrestingly in the clinic he founded in İstanbul.
With his own words; “My philosophy states that each aesthetic procedure can be rated successful only if handled rigorously as in a microsurgical operation. Besides; being aware of learning and teaching process in medicine is everlasting, I have been taking part in many scientific meeting, congress and vocational activities, chasing the up to date information and news to be more beneficial for my patients.
Above all; in such an intense tempo, my beloved family gives me the energy I need.”
