Prof. Dr. Onur Egemen

Dr. Onur Egemen, born in 1975, received his primary, secondary, and high school education in Trabzon. He graduated from Trabzon Anatolian High School in 1993 and enrolled Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. During his faculty education, Dr. Onur Egemen took a special interest in surgical branches. He also completed a general surgery internship abroad in his 4th year. Meeting Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery in the 5th year was one of the turning points of his life.

The broad practice area of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery, the variety of the dynamics of each surgery, and the needs of each patient allow for personal creativity and improvisation. The fact that the results are visible immediately after the surgery, and patients are made happy with magic touches led Onur Egemen to choose Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery specialization in the Medical Specialty Exam (TUS), which he took in the same year he graduated from the Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1999.

Dr. Onur Egemen started his specialty training at the Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic in Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital in 1999. During this period, he also completed his microsurgery training and performed many microsurgical surgeries.

After his specialty training, Dr. Onur Egemen completed his 2-year compulsory service and 1- year military service. In 2008, he started working as a specialist doctor at Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital. In 2010, he passed the "Assistant Chief" exam and continued his duty as the Assistant Chief at the Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic in Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital. Dr. Onur Egemen, accelerating his research and scientific studies after this date, successfully passed the written exams held in Brussels and the oral exams held in Marseille in 2011, and was entitled to receive the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Competency (EBOPRAS) certificate and the Turkish Plastic Surgery Association Qualification in the same year.

In 2012, he had the opportunity to work in the clinic of Dr. Moustapha Hamdi, one of today's most active breast surgeons, at the Brussels Faculty of Medicine (UZ Brussels). In the clinic, he participated in many cases, especially in post-cancer breast reconstruction with microsurgical methods, and aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, and as a result, his interest in breast surgery increased even more.

Dr. Onur Egemen successfully passed the written and oral exams in 2013 and became an Associate Professor of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He received the title of Professor in 2020.

Professor Onur Egemen has published in national and international journals. Dr. Onur Egemen still continues his research and scientific publications and his practice with pleasure, in which he enjoys all kinds of aesthetic, reconstructive and microsurgical procedures. He strongly believes that a good plastic surgeon can only be trained after completing a successful reconstructive surgery training process. Professor Egemen applies this philosophy to every operation he performs and carries out every procedure he undertakes with the meticulousness, precision, and quality of a microsurgical operation.

Professor Egemen takes part in many scientific meetings and congresses both in Turkey and abroad every year, with the idea that teaching and training in medicine will never end. He continues to publish in international and national scientific journals and conduct scientific research. Thanks to these, he is able to follow the developments in his field and offer the latest innovations to his patients.

Prof. Dr. Onur Egemen is married to Attorney Gözde Egemen and they have two children. He gets the energy he needs in his busy schedule from his family, whom he loves very much.
